Second last day of the tour (I hope). Started taking the ferry across Fehmarn Belt to Rødby. Almost immediately after the harbour I got onto one of the national bike routes. It was an old railway line used for transporting turnips (Rüben). It was gravel and went on for about 15km. There was even a self service station on the way with a pump and repair tools. Then I was on some back routes until Maribo. There I went on the main road to Sakskøbing, then onto Guldborg, both more or less straight lines. At the 35km mark I had climbed in total 24m! Yes it is flat in southern Denmark. In Guldborg you pass from one island to the next. Then again on the main road to Vordingborg thereby crossing the old bridge (3km). A very bumpy ride across due to the many repairs (aaauuuuu). They are constructing a new bridge. Lunch in Vordingborg was a nice burger (a local restaurant not the usual burger restaurants we all know). At lunch I noticed how hot it actually had become. Therefore I asked for a refill of my water bottle.
Then on it went to the last 35km first inland then along the coast. At the end it was then a bit up (yes it was 80-100m!) before I finally ended at the B&B. More laid out for car tourists, but it is really nice. It is a working farm (I think) and they have horses as well. Went into the very nice pool. The B&B didn’t include breakfast (!!!! why the second B?).
The problem for me was that it was 2km outside town and nothing to eat (and drink) in the village. To save my heavy part, I walked into town. In this town there is a very big Haribo factory, a chalk mine and a brewery. The view of the open chalk mine was quite impressive. It is still operational and you are allowed to walk into it. Otherwise I didn’t find more interesting things in town.
