Lavigny to Annecy

The day started really good, downhill to the Lake of Geneva, and from there on I decided to take the main road towards Geneva, because first of all it’s flat, and second it turned out that there’s a lot of biking lanes even separated from the road, so very good. Although the quality of them could have been better, but it was a nice ride, riding sometimes with views over the lake, and sometimes with fields on the right-hand side, and huge villas on the left-hand side of the lake. Towards Geneva, of course there was a lot of huge embassies, mainly from very well-known dictatorships in the world, having their villas down towards the lake, I mean, yeah. Then I visited my cousin, had a coffee, something to eat, and then I continued towards Annecy. I’d expected that route to be very difficult and very strange, and it turned out to be even more difficult, and sometimes on a little bit too heavy traffic roads. I had chosen a gravel route but it was more mountain bike terrain so I had to change plans. With the 30plus degrees, I was suffering a lot. So much that I had to make an emergency stop at a kebab shop to drink one and a half litres of soft drinks to sort of get myself going again. But after that it was mainly downhill to Annecy, and that was nice. Annecy I can recommend, it’s a very nice town, a lot of restaurants, a lot of bars, a lot of tourists, but very nice houses, and a lot of bike lanes, sometimes a little bit too over-engineered to actually know where you’re have to go.
